Mija’s Story

Mija Stockman was in a tragic 3-car accident on the morning of December 20th, 2013 on her way to the last day of work before Christmas break. She was taken to Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita. She sustained multiple injuries including a basilar skull fracture with major bleeding and swelling in her brain and a broken ankle.  Her husband, Shawn, and three daughters, Eryn (19), Brynne (15) and Taylor (10), and the rest of her family are anxiously waiting for her to regain consciousness. She has recently had a vetricular peritoneal (VP) shunt placed to help drain excess fluid off her brain so hopefully she will wake up soon!!

She is currently at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, NE working hard with physical, occupational and speech therapies. She seems to make progress every day!

Mija lives in Lindsborg, KS and teaches elementary physical education in McPherson, KS.  She has a huge heart and big smile.  She has a bubbly personality and loves to sing.  There is not anything she would not do for someone in need. She has impacted many lives while living and teaching in the towns of Lindsborg, Salina, Lyons, McPherson and beyond.

As you can imagine the medical costs are going to be overwhelming for her family, as well as constant travel and hotel stays. Several fundraisers are currently underway and more scheduled in the future to help the Stockman family deal with the mounting medical costs. Additionally, donations may be made on this website and also through Peoples Bank in Lindsborg, McPherson, Inman, or Hutchinson or mail your donation into 201 S. Main Street, P.O. Box 111, Lindsborg, KS 67456.

Please continue to keep the prayers and good vibes coming her way. We anxiously await the day Mija opens her eyes.

Thank you!
